The garden is at a particularly frustrating stage; lots of veggies have been started, but aside from asparagus and a few kale and sage plants that miraculously over wintered, there is not yet much to show for all of the work. It's been dry enough that even with watering there has been some less than perfect germination. Worst of all, a few day ago a rabbit found some of the carrot starts. In past years I've been fairly tolerant of our animal visitors, save for a few groundhogs that started taking unreasonable amounts. But now, with such increased urgency about getting a good early crop, more drastic measures are tempting.
