It’s taken until early July, but the garden is finally hitting its stride. True, the only root vegetables that have matured are rutabagas, beets, and carrots, which are also the last three holdouts in the cellar, but soon the early potatoes will be ready, and it’s shaping up to be a record squash crop. The plants in the greenhouse continue to thrive, with lots of tomatoes and melons set on the vine. Interestingly, none of the pepper plants have flowered yet, despite being started at the same time as the tomatoes. Then there are greens of all sorts, a few peas, fennel, and the first black raspberries.
