- (2.5 pounds (2 packs)) Country-Style Rib
- (1/4 Cup) Low Sodium Soy Sauce
- (2 Tablespoons) Honey
- (2 teaspoons) 5 Spice powder (optional)
Country-style ribs are far meatier than their spare or baby back cousins. (Some people even sell boneless country-style ribs, which seems like a contradiction.) They are actually more like a shoulder roast, and should be treated similarly. They appreciate slow cooking or roasting, and they are flavorful enough to do well with assertive seasoning. This recipe features soy and honey, but barbecue sauce or a chipotle marinade would work just as well.
Preheat oven to 350. In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, and five spice powder.
Arrange ribs in a roasting pan. They should fit snugly, but you want them in a single layer. Pour sauce over the ribs.
Cover with tinfoil and back for 1 1/2 hours, flipping halfway through. Poke the meat. It should be fork tender but not completely falling apart.
Remove tinfoil and bake ribs for another 30 minutes.
