- Servings: 2-4, depending on hunger level.
Ingredients
- (1 lb.) Ground Beef
- (1 cup) Rice
- (2 teaspoons) Tamari or Soy Sauce
- (1 Tablespoon) Butter
Directions
Step 1
Start cooking rice using your preferred method. (Here is a very simple way. This approach yields consistently fluffier results, but it requires a little bit of experimentation to perfect.)
Step 2
Saute beef until uniformly brown. Drain some fat if desired, but leave at least enough to coat the bottom of the pan well.
Step 3
When rice is cooked add it to the beef, along with butter and tamari or soy sauce.
Step 4
Salt and pepper to taste and serve with ketchup, sriracha, or any other condiment that strikes your fancy.
As straightforward as this recipe is, there are endless variations on it. Caramelize onions. Add a bunch of kale or arugula. Replace the beef with pork and add chili powder. Use lamb, season with mint and cumin, and serve it with tzatziki.
